Not to mention that we (well, at least *I*, and probably Jaymz) have a bunch of the material and books/additions to be able to help you out. I gave him a link to a site that has pretty much every d6 Star Wars book readily available as free pdf. Well crap.. I need that link so I can finish off my collection!

I gave him a link to a site that has pretty much every d6 Star Wars book readily available as free pdf. And I still bought paper copies instead... because fuck yeah, dead trees! I've already started working on the personality for the villains du jour... something about "Sith Apprentice" just screams "large ham".

So... as part of my preparations for the start of my Star Wars game, I went out and got the first copies of Star Wars that I've had since before George Lucas went back and remastered the original trilogy. Got all six Star Wars movies in a DVD and Blu-Ray combo pack, and I started watching them this morning... in chronological order.
Big mistake.
At time of writing, I'm about halfway through Phantom Menace, and I'm already feeling more optimistic about Star Wars VII being done by Disney instead of LucasFilm. This movie isn't just bad... I'd quite forgotten how breathtakingly awful it is, and I'm not entirely sure that it was time that dulled my memory of it. My brain might've blanked this crap out in sheer self-defense. God damn, George Lucas is a great many things, but a writer IS NOT ONE OF THEM. TVTropes informs me that Obi-Wan had a line to the effect of "I can't watch any more." back in Revenge of the Sith... and just let me say "I'm right there with you, buddy". Was everyone just too kind this time around to give Lucas some candor like Harrison Ford did when he said "You can write this shit, but you can't say it!"?
Don't even get me started on the casting decisions... how the hell many people have to be asleep at the switch to make this many bad decisions?

The WEG d6 SW 2nd R&E is actually not and looking book to have truth be told.
As for the above...not sure what to tell you Mike. I actually liked Phantom Menace for the moat part as well as the other 2 prequels, with some notable exceptions of course within each movie

I actually liked Phantom Menace for the moat part as well as the other 2 prequels, with some notable exceptions of course within each movie I have no idea what that first sentence there was supposed to mean... Anyway... I'm almost done watching the six Star Wars movies. Shot thru Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, and Empire Strikes Back yesterday, and I'm about 2/3 of the way into Return of the Jedi right now. It kind of takes a little away from Darth Vader's intimidation factor when you compare his behavior in A New Hope to Revenge of the Sith... suddenly his on-the-spot tendency to murder any subordinate who displeases him seems less like "bad boss Vader" and more like a teenager with an anger management problem. He gets a little of that dignity back by Jedi though. Honestly, I'll say this for the movies... they should have had WAY more space battles like the opening one in Revenge of the Sith. That was well choreographed, and had one of the few good exchanges between Anakin and Obi-Wan ("We... lost something." "At least we're still flying half a ship!")

Shit on whole wheat toast did Lucas ever f*ck up the color-correction on the Blu-Ray release of the old trilogy...
They tried to make everything appear darker, but the end result was that the cantina scene ended up looking like it had been filmed through a used coffee filter.

I may have resorted to ungentlemanly language when I noticed they'd edited Mannequin Skywalker into the final scene of RotJ...

I may have resorted to ungentlemanly language when I noticed they'd edited Mannequin Skywalker into the final scene of RotJ... A LOT of people felt the same way. In fact, in the theater, I actually heard "WHAT THE FUCK IS DOUCHEMONKEY DOING THERE?!".... Granted, it was a theater full of soldiers, but hey...

So... on the spur of the moment, and because of a fortuitous recommendation by Google Play, I've come into possession of the Tales of the Jedi omnibus pair. I remember seeing the first part of this, about Naga Sadow's rise to power, waaaaaaay back in my childhood. I was curious to know how the story ended, so I bought it. I have to say, I like the aesthetic of this better than the new trilogy.
It's weird that normally the trope has a society go MORE towards the "crystals and togas" thing as they advance... Star Wars is doing it in reverse. Things get less crystal towers-and-togas and more grim, utilitarian modern as time goes on.
