We still play it here now and then.
Best iteration of SW roleplaying ever in my opinion. Simple, easy to learn, and able to be made as basic or complex as you desire.
Here is a toast to my faded and lost love, WEG SWD6.
I even miss the Adventure Journals I subscribed to.
Anyone else miss it too?

I miss it. I still play it though. I have all the Adventure Journals. It's what I really hoped Palladium's Rifter would be but isn't.
I agree the system itself is elegant in it's simplicity and you are dead on with the fact you could make it complex without much effort as well if you so chose. My favourite system and I was glad to see WEG at least attempt to revive itself using the d6 system for other ganes.

I'm an odd one out, but I didn't go in on SWd6 like some others did. I prefer some of the later incarnations.

I loved the simplicity of the d6 system. I never was a big SW fan until WB got me playing d6 starwars....Now I am a fan. Tried some of the d20 system stuff....but not a fan of most d20 systems.

The d20 version just didn't have the right flavor. They tried to copy the D&D success, but it didn't fit for SW. The D6 version was sci-fi gamer Nirvana. Everything flowed just right, and nothing went out of whack. Also, you didn't have the issue with level imbalance like the d20 version

Now honestly as awesome as d6 was and is, it still lacked a little itself just not very much. Now this is coming from complete Star Wars nut. I have literally made wife just go WTF as well as a couple of good friends about my fanaticism (my wife just accepts it now as normal....at least for me) in regards to Star Wars and I do not mean toys and collectibles but information and books etc. I am withholding judgement on the newest incarnation until I get a copy in my hands and I will discuss it in the forum for it when that times comes Until then d6 is my game of choice and when not that I will use the Palladium system (tweaked of course) to play Star Wars.

The only thing I liked about D20 was the ease in playing darkside characters. D6, even once it allowed it, seemed like it was still discouraging it.
But, D20 just seemed like it was trying too hard to be D&D in space, which just happened to be the SW universe

Star Wars D6 holds up pretty well for being a game that is nearly 30 years old. I think some of the refinements that Eric Gibson initiated with D6 Space can be incorporated (merits/flaws etc) to give the game a little more depth. This is especially true if you want to play a character that has more than simply the clothes on his back, a blaster and maybe a few credits.

I love that game. I still buy books (obviously they are out of print)when I find them in bookstores or game conventions. I pull them out all the time to read and reread. I based all of my Star Wars conversions for Palladium using those books. Which is why I hated D20 because it just did not have the same feel.
I wish I could find a game of WEG Star Wars to join.

The intro adventure, Mesa-whatever the numbers were-in the main book started off more than one campaign I ran of D6.
Great way to throw a group together and give them some starting gear.

I picked up a ton of books for D6 recently. The Revised 2nd edition, and several books that made it to the 2nd that were originally printed in 1st ed rules. But what I like most is I picked up the Rebel and Imperial Sourcebooks in Hardback form. Best book is rules of engagement. Goes into more detail regarding the different template classes for the Spec Force people.
