This is a group I put together that I'm liking.
Chrome Calvary are Glitterboys that ride robot horses. Glitter Robot Horses that is. The GBs are specially modified to lock on the horse and sync movements. The horse has a pylon system so the GB can fire it's Boom Gun. But the GB boom gun is modified to fire a lower velocity so to fire the gun on the run. (2d6x10)
The OCC Chrome Cavalier gains Horsemanship. And a special Code of Honor that the Cavalry in stills into its recruits.

HISTORY
During the Dark Ages hope was a rare commodity. After the final vestiges of civilization collapsed, people could only rely in themselves and luck to save them. Those few people with power either provided aid or used that power to abuse people. Countless legends tell of Chrome clad warriors heroically fighting against the darkness, they used their power to help the vulnerable and weak. The Glitterboy was pure power, tough as a demon, with a punch that could kill one on a single shot. The first pilots were primarily old empire military trained and they passed that training down through their children or apprentices. Over time Glitterboy pilots were less commandos and more Knight Errant dispensing justice where every they went. The Chrome Cavalry is one such story.
After the collapse of society many ex-military personnel were left with a wealth of equipment but no leadership to tell them what to do with it. One such unit was the 501st Cavalry. (Said Five O First) Originally this heavy cavalry unit had tanks, APCs, Robot Vehicles and Glitterboys. But by the end only the Glitterboys remained functional enough to be of any use. The lieutenant Colt knew he needed a place to settle down at, a location that could resupply his men and be a home for their families. As he pondered these problems he read his Glitterboy manual, an act of meditation he used to free his mind of concerns. He flipped to the back cover and printed at the bottom of the last page was "Printed in Clarksveil California". He thought about who printed his book when he realized, "We're was my Glitterboy made?" He poured over his GB and finally found a little plaque rivited to an inside plate. "Proudly built by UAW union members in Clarksveil, California" This was a plan, a manufacturing town could provide resupply and be a new home for his soldiers.
The trek across North America is legendary among the descendent a of the 501st. The Trail of Blood took 6 months and many people died to make the trip succeed. In the end their numbers were greater then when they started, survivors and other soldiers encountered along the way decided to join their cause and find a potentional homeland for themselves too.
Clarksveil suffered great damage from earth quakes and massive hurricane like weather immediately after the cataclysm. Leaving the city, or what was left, a ghost town by the time the 501st arrived. Long abandoned and looted, hope ebbed as the dream of building a secure home thanks to a factory that would keep their Glitterboys going, dispair would have won if not for the Vault. Protocol was standard, destroy or lock up everything so it didn't fall into enemy hands. The Vault was a treasure chest begging to be opened. Unpowered the massive 25 ton door was impossible for anyone to open, thus it never having been opened. The obvious attempts to break in proved force was a waste of time, only one chance. Could the military access codes given to the lieutenant work here? Getting power back was o easy feat but when the vault access panel jumped to life Lt Colt methodically enter any access code he could remember. Like a dramatic movie moment, code after code came up access denied until the second to last code he could remember lit the panel green. Whirling noises inside the vault where drown out by cheers of joy. When the vault did open, it's motors struggling after years of neglect, salvation for the 501st lay inside.
THE CHROME CAVALRY
Reborn from ashes Clarksveil came back to life. It's factory repaired, allowing the Glitterboys to be repaired and given raw materials could produce new suits. The 501st and it's new support personnel of family and survivors drove the lingering monsters from the residential areas and the long process of building a new community began. With in a year the city was secured against minor threats such as bandits or random rifts but a Slaver and it's entourage of Blind Warrior Women proved their city was not secure enough. The city had to secure resources and expand. With in five years trade was vibrant and a large wall protected a sizable community. While the modern Chrome Cavalry was still yet to be born the remnants of the 501st protected trade routes and other small communities as part of trade deals.
The 501st created a stable and prosperous community, but their biggest test was not to occur for another 50 years.
Questions
What is a good threat that would highlight the mobility issues for Glitterboys that incentivizes them to develop Glitter Horses?
