Watching the Walking Dead the other day something occurred to me, in a Dead Reign sort of situation or even Rifts, there's going to be times when player character parties are out in the world with no hope or resupply. Either under siege in some fashion or just out in a place where there's no food stuffs. Even in HU or other games you could be in a plane crash or something.
In such extreme times, the only thing to dine on.... may be the fallen.
Now for most people this is going to be an extreme life or death situation. Rarely pop up but we're playing in role playing games where we don't RP sitting round the house for 3 weeks between missions or what have you. We RP out those rare situations where things happen.
Now, eating people. Clearly it's going to be a big deal (For most people). When do you think it's 'ok'? Many will point to the alignment system and what not but I'm not really talking about that. (Besides, I'm pretty sure it's not actually touched on in the alignment system). My question, is more to the "When does it start becoming detrimental to one's health". Eating people is in general bad. It messes with you, both mentally and physically. There's piron disease, the human version of Mad cow and what not.
Has anyone had this happen in a game? Where their party had to resort to such an extreme action? How'd it come about?
If so was there any rules you use for it? Or was it all role play? Were there forced rolls for insanity? Or to resist disease?
The Cannibals in the Walking Dead started due to necessity but continued on due to ease of 'meat'. (I.E. went pretty fuckin' crazy)).
How do you think it'd play out with your groups?
