What a useless twat. Fucking guy calls a bunch of people assholes, louts, gits, and toxic douchbags on Facebook and then gets all pissy when he gets called out on it. Jesus Christ what a god damned, ass hatted cunt.
I honestly hope that if Palladium ever publishes his manuscript that they fucking go under.

I haven't canceled my subscription to the rifter. There are a number of articles in each rifter and some I find of use. Not his, but I can easily skip his. I know some have canceled their Rifters, least they ever get another article from the person in question.
I -will- boycott, the book, if he writes a book, that gets published by Palladium. I don't think it's going to happen. The guy's a lightning rod. All the stuff about him flame baiting the forums, about the bribery of one of the forums moderators. Then the ban when that came out, the multiple bans on the forums before. I just don't see them publishing anything by him. With SOOO few books published a year, if they stopped taking in Freelancer books now, they could go 5 years publishing 2.5 to 4 books a year and not need anything 'new'. So why would they risk publishing something by him? They wouldn't. They don't 'need' to.
If by some chance he .... I don't even want to speculate how.. but if he did manage to get a book that would be published. I'd refuse to buy it. I'd be very verbal as to why. I'd call the offices and tell Kevin personally. I'd send emails, and encourage others to do so. The full works.
Thing is... It's a 'non problem'. As I honestly don't think they'll do it. Too many other non controversial things they could work on/publish and not risk the hassle. So I don't go to any of the effort to 'boycott' something that very likely will never happen. If it DOES happen I'll worry about it then. Till then, giving the guy attention is what he wants.
He mistakes hatred and people yelling at him for love. He thinks it's all a game, where people yell but are smiling behind it. ANY Attention is 'love' to him. Even hate filled ranting. It's 'attention' and he sees it as good. People giving him such attention, good or bad, makes his day. When one responds to him, even if they're cussing him out, he THINKS they love him and they're 'playing their part' in his game. "Oh look. Raiden has posted about me! About ME!! He spent time posting about ME! OHHHH look how mad his is! This is Awesome! Look how much emotion he's put into it! YES YES YES!!" It makes his day. It's his entire goal. To get people to respond. To pay attention to him.
It's pretty sad.
So just don't play the game. His posting has been cut way back on the Official Forums. We know why. His bribe was put out in the open, and he was banned for a few months. It wasn't his first or second ban. you get 3 then they kick you out for 6 months or a year. He's gotta lay low.
(How do I know? Because I have to behave for the exact same reason. I'm not going to front or lie. If I get another ban it might be a year or 5 years or forever. I have to be 'good'. I make no effort to obfuscate that. I DO make an effort not to get my ass banned. So I skip alot of posts or just don't respond to alot of posts there. Self preservation. )
But if he's laying low and not posting much. Just let him. leave him alone. Ignore him and let it fade away. he wants the attention, if you don't give it to him, he'll seek it elsewhere. In this case, it very much -is- a case of 'Ignore him and he'll eventually go away" as the only -reason- he's around, is for the attention.

Just ignore that particular problem (person) and it'll go away. Though admittedly there are a lot of assholes, louts, gits, and toxic douchebags on the internet... but if you give people (relative) anonymity and an audience, they're almost guaranteed to act up at some point.

Yeah, been holding that one in for a few days. I think what has me pissed off the most about it is the fact that the idiot is allowed to continually insult other customers, whether it's on Facebook or the forums., and almost always gets away with it with very few repercussions.
Sure, the mother fucker has been banned from the FotM a few times, but it just doesn't seem to have done much to slow down his idiocy, other than to make him think twice, maybe three times, before getting perma-banned on the forums. Otherwise he just keeps doing what he does....
I actually did send PB a message over face book, not because my feeling was hurt, but because as a potential representative of Palladium, he should probably calm down in his name calling. Their response has been to ignore it.

Nope I asked around and unless he blocked a lot of people who have no real connection to him he deactivated his account... unless you can still see it?
He and I have never had a real run in besides him questioning my ethics as writer in a conversation which had zero to do with him. It literally came from NOWHERE then it was gone. I think somebody told him not to start anything with me, it goes to my theory that Palladium and I have an unspoken detente going on. I leave them alone they leave me alone. Hence Jeff deleting every topic in which we have rubbed against one another on Facebook.

Jeff (I'm assuming you mean NMI) has had a habit of deleting a lot of his posts on FB. Apparently he trolled the Ninja Division page (anecdotal on my part, since I didn't witness it first hand and his comments have been wiped).
As for Liam/Akashic, I hope he sleeps well knowing he's driven away another customer. Because of his actions and PB's lack of action, my boycott of them is now permanent.
Any suggestions for a new system/publisher?

Palladium books are still.... how to say it.... Internet virgins? They don't really seem to understand the net, often make wildly inaccurate claims about it and show their shocking ignorance. A year or two ago they were getting raked over the coals for not having a facebook page. They responded, pretty dickish too, that it'd take one of their people 3 weeks, working 9 hour days to produce a Facebook page and as we're bitching about stuff being late, it'd be bad to take three weeks to produce one. Then "Someone" Produced a palladium fan page in 30 minutes while putting together his son's Legos. This totally shamed Palladium and they got a Facebook page up pretty quick after that.
I say that as a per-emble as to their responses on social media and what not. They seriously don't seem to understand it. Not long back, a Palladium Forums moderator implied he'd fucked a poster's wife. This is after repeatedly telling people to shove lit dynamite up their asses and other such things. But yeah, in a facebook argument the guy implied he'd fucked a customers' wife. When brought to Palladium's attention, one of the guys from the Palladium office actually came into the thread and blew it off, acted like people were over reacting to a "your momma joke". That pissed off A LOT of people.
They just don't 'get it'. I'm not sure if it's an age thing, as Kevin and the core crew aren't exactly young, or if it's just a technophobe thing, or what, but it's very very clear if you look at Palladium's online presence over the years, they don't want to be there at all, and seem to resent having to be. It took them years and years and years to update their website. They acted like 6 or more years was a common build time for a website. For the longest time the official palladium website looked like something my 11 year old could have built on Geocities (before geocities died. lol).
I will say, that since that time with the implied sexual congress with someone's wife, and a post on ND's thing, that the moderator in question has severely cut back his interactions with fans on facebook and has calmed down. So it appears that someone up the chain told them to knock it off. It seems to have been addressed. That's a good thing, but it doesn't change the fact that the core group at Palladium don't seem to really understand the internet, and most especially don't seem to understand social media.

Trust me, I was there when he made the comments about another mans wife on FB. I took him to task over it on another site.
The thing is, Palladium should have at least one person, volunteer or paid, to help them with their social media presence. Someone younger and not afraid of the internet. This would help them quite a bit I would thnk, but knowing King Kevin, he'd probably be afraid of that person usurping his position as the "go to" person at Palladium.

Simple. Don't know this person, nor do I care to know him nor hear about him. About that... I feel the need to apologize for bringing the name up, and for spewing the venom that I did. I showed a total lack of respect for almost everyone here for going off like I did. So, I apologize for my completely inappropriate language, for bringing up such a sore topic, and for creating more drama than was needed. It felt good getting it out, but now I'm looking at myself and thinking, "What a jackass." Damn hindsight.

From what I've heard and read, it sounds like this guy's a real douche, so I certainly won't begrudge you a little venting. Besides, the average Palladium gamer's like 30... we can handle a little foul language. It really is unsettling that Palladium apparently either doesn't know or doesn't care that this guy's such a massively polarizing figure to their customers... any sane outfit would jettison him so hard he'd set a new land speed record.

It's very much more likely 'Doesn't know, and wouldn't care if they did'. Remember, the guy is only a problem online. Palladium are technophobic. They resent even having to be online and still think such things as Ereaders and tablets are a passing fad, that would be silly to capitalize on. They don't get on and read everything on the forums. They leave it to one guy to report to them. Which is problematic if you look back to the history of the individual causing the problem and that he 'gifted' $200 in RPGs...... Still. They don't see the net as a viable source of... anything. To them, the people bitching on the web are just "5 bitter 'haters' in their mom's basement'. They don't see it as a problem. This perception isn't helped when you have people bitching, but then go on to buy 3... 4...5... 11 copies of one book. lol. "I hate your fucking shit!! but I'm going to buy 11 copies of your book!" I mean WTF? With people angry like that, who'd want to make um happy?

Well... with a little luck, Robotech RPG Tactics will turn out to be such an absolute fiasco that the problem will solve itself. They won't have to worry about an online presence being virtually mandatory to be in business these days when they're not in business anymore.

I don't want them to go out of business. I want more Palladium books. More ATB. More HU. More, yes, Rifts. More DR.
I love Palladium Books. I just hate their... I'm not even sure we can call them business practices with a straight face. And I don't like RTT at all. I know some people are very excited about it. I'm not. And I think it's taken tons and tons of time and man hours from the -books- I do like.
It's already a fiasco. I hope it doesn't ruin the company. I hope they, eventually, get the crap to the poor backers. And then call it done. "We tried this. It worked out great (a lie) but it took too much time and effort from our company so it'll be a stand alone thing! Hope you enjoy" Type of thing. I honestly don't see it going beyond 2 expansions at the very very best. And even that would be a hella stretch.

I don't want them to go out of business. I want more Palladium books. More ATB. More HU. More, yes, Rifts. More DR. I'm pretty neutral on the subject of the company... but I believe very firmly in survival of the fittest in the business world, and this is one company that's clinging on by its fingertips at the best of times. If they go out of business, at least from Kevin's perspective it'll free him from having to confront the internet. Eh... I think the company's pretty well ruined already, and was LONG before the "crisis of treachery" nonsense. Palladium's steadfast and pointless refusal to adapt to changes in their industry has basically signed its death warrant. It's now a matter of "when", not "if", PB will finally be pushed past the tipping point and go out of business. It's been that way for a good while now. Each successive fiasco's just a new shove toward the brink... partnering with fucking Nokia to make a game for their stillborn N-Gage game platform? Renewing a license agreement with Harmony Gold to make the Robotech RPG - associating themselves with a company with even worse judgment than theirs, with a reputation that'd have to improve considerably before it could be called abysmal? Getting into the tabletop gaming industry with a brand whose name has been mud there for upwards of two decades? They're practically committing suicide. Ah well... if they go outta business, I'll see about buying their IP and hiring someone capable to actually produce the goods. I honestly don't see it going beyond 2 expansions at the very very best. And even that would be a hella stretch. Why do you think they started with Macross? They KNEW this was going to be one-and-done. When they thought the title had a future, they started with Robotech: the Shadow Chronicles because they thought that was going to be the pilot for a brave new Robotech OVA series. Now that reality has set in and they've realized that Shadow Chronicles was a mistake so odious all but the most devoted Robotech fans can't delude themselves into thinking it wasn't garbage, they're back to leading with RT's one guaranteed sell. Next in line is Southern Cross... where both the original show and Robotech adaptation are so odious that Harmony Gold and its partners flatly deny insist that there's no business case for making merchandise for it.

I mean, I knew in an academic sense that if someone did something odious enough they could get banned from Facebook, but I figured you'd have to do something like photobomb a holocaust survivors group dressed as an SS officer or something really ridiculously over-the-top like that. Did they let you know what you supposedly did that was so heinous it merited a temporary ban?
