Paizo does everything that I wish Palladium would do. They are always releasing product and listening to their fans. Plus they update things to their core book when they notice a problem.
So with this being said I haven't came up with any house rules because I am still learning all of the rules and looking to join Pathfinder Society nearby starting a week from Saturday. Really looking forward to playing Pathfinder for once. I have ran a couple solo games for my wife and we have had fun trying to learn the rules between sessions. Next week we will probably play a few times too.

Is it true they are going to be doing what WotC did and finally do a "Pathfinder Modern, sci-fi, etc"?

Is it true they are going to be doing what WotC did and finally do a "Pathfinder Modern, sci-fi, etc"? I haven't heard anything about that. They have done a campaign setting book about other planets and in that 60 some page booklet it had talk of more tech savvy stuff but it isn't a large setting book or anything. It wouldn't bother me if they did because I wouldn't buy it. I enjoy their setting Golarion which already has some things I am not 100% sold on like the robotic clockwork stuff.

Hmm...ok. I am just really thinking to take a crack at Rifts d20 using all the 3.x d20 modern books so.... I think some people on RPGNet have made Rifts into a D20 mechanics system. I could be wrong but I thought awhile back I remember seeing it. There was a Marvel Heroic Roleplaying system converted for Rifts over there.

I've seen a rifts d20.....I'll be "breaking" d20 in some ways in mine as straight conversion to be loses what Rifts is in some respects.

I could be wrong but I thought awhile back I remember seeing it. There was a Marvel Heroic Roleplaying system converted for Rifts over there. yeah and both were made by individuals who really had no comprehension on how game design functions. They tried to shoe horn Rifts into a forced mechanical balance system (that was never going to work). Heh... the Rifts D20 had the Juicer, crazy, and borg as templates. That meant one could have a Juiced-Crazy-Borg-Mystic (and you thought Rifts was munchkin fodder before...) Jaymz idea is to ignore mechanical "balance." Which is the biggest stumbling block for most d20 conversion.

D20 Conversions tend to get repetitive. You end up make some of the same things over and over again. But the mecha have a specific feel and it's hard to convert to a straight up D20 modern and get the same palladium feel. Granted the rules aren't very indepth to begin with so not like you losing much.
Or I just didn't want to tackle dealing with all those mecha conversion. Ugh.

I did it once a while back an I thought i got a pretty good feel of a samas...... what I am most interested in seeing is your conversion of d20 into an active defense. I tried my hand at it twice for 3.5 and Pathfinder but ended up abandoning it when I realized my approach was going to require a complete overhaul of the combat and feat systems.

While Pathfinder is fast becoming my secondary system; I have to say the Pathfinder community is starting to make FotM look tame in comparison. The RAW vs Homebrew/Houserule dynamic they have going on is just too much. There is no way in hell anyone will ever get me to play a PFS (the organized play variant). It is a strict adherence to RAW and the RAW is blatantly broken (there are spell/feat combos that grant infinite spells, stats, gold, wishes, etc... and woe be to he who suggests a tempering of these breaks.) Seriously these guys make vid-game exploiters look tame.

Well basically it becomes a free dodge/parry depending on feats or bonuses from various things. I have to go over the d20 mecha document again. One thing though is the likely removal of armour adding to defense. May work into the Damage Reductions or something.

If something is broken it means you can't use it and it needs to be fixed in my opinion. Now I haven't played enough Pathfinder to have any negative experiences with the system yet.

If something is broken it means you can't use it and it needs to be fixed in my opinion. Now I haven't played enough Pathfinder to have any negative experiences with the system yet. By broken I mean renders other aspects of the system obsolete, detracts from the fun of the other players, etc... Examples of game breakers: Game Breaker #1: Synthesist Summoner. (so broken it is actively banned in PFS). exploit #1: The Character Fuses with its Eidolon and uses the Eidolons physical stats in place of his/her own. This means that the 3 physicals are now pure dump stats granting the SS an extra +12 build points dedicated to strictly mental stats in point buy games (pretty much most all Pathfinder games). And the Eidolons Physicals just get better with leveling.| exploit #2: Purchasable evolutions (you can add features such as extra limbs, SUs and SLAs, etc...) plus the eidolon comes with its own set of skills which the SS may use while fused. Exploit #3: able to Cast wile fused. (need I say more?) Game breaker #2: Elf/Half-Elf/Human Sorcerers and Paragon surge + Expanded Arcanna = All Arcane spells known (Bypassing the spells known limits of the class) rendering the wizard redundant/obsolete. Game Breaker #3: Craft magic item feats (breaks the economies of the game world). (these are also banned from PFS) There many others but these three I found just skimming the books when I first got them (and the paragon Surge issue is still a PFS problem child even though it is a 3 year old "break") A good GM can stop them cold but not if his hands are tied to running strictly RAW. (Which all PFS GMs are). Strict RAW has more wild exploits/breaks than Palladium (and that is saying something). The core system (like with Palladium) is sound; its all the fiddly bits that Paizo has added on that are the problems.

My only real problem with pathfinder is that I am trying to read it and reread it and after awhile so many terms become confusing. But I will get the hang of it and he them memorized lol

My only real problem with pathfinder is that I am trying to read it and reread it and after awhile so many terms become confusing. But I will get the hang of it and he them memorized lol All you really need to know to run D20 is the following: - Its a Target Number based system.
Roll a d20 add bonuses to the roll if it beats the Target Number it is a success - Stacking bonuses: Bonuses of the same type do not stack (take the highest one). Ex: My Inquisitor has a +2 holy sword and activates her judgement ability for a +3 holy bonus This is not a +5 holy bonus but a +3 holy bonus. If the sword were a just a regular old +2 sword then it would stack for a +5.
- Attacks of Opportunity:
Leaving a threatened square provokes an AoO Combat Maneuvers Provoke an AoO A character (or monster) is only allowed one AoO per combat turn regardless of how many are provoked. - Feats, Spells, and Class abilities provide ways to bypass the previously stated rules.
You are now ready to GM any PFS module. (or home game for that matter).

I have said before I won't allow magic item creation. Magic items should be rare and I don't think a player of a certain level should automatically have a set amount of treasure/magic items. Magic items are rare and I would like to think wealth takes awhile to accumulate.

Magic items are rare and I would like to think wealth takes awhile to accumulate. The only thing WBL should be used for (and was the original intention of the rule) is when you have a new character starting out at a level higher than Level One. (it was meant as a ball park figure not a hard number that must be adhered to). After that Wealth should be determined by game play.
