after going over the various guides... I'd say jaymz' version is fine for the LAAT/I model. But it was not the original model , as seen during geonosis. going by the AUGG and other books, the vehicle would come out to around 60 tons and have x y z features. However, the original Atmospheric model, would be Half those mdc values and not capable of being used in space. it also had less weapons and did not have 8 missile pilons like the LAATI/model that version i would put at 1/4 mdc since it was repo'd mining ship. To again quote your own reference. "The most common LAAT-series model was the LAAT/i, an infantry transport and mobile gun platform used throughout the Clone Wars." The LAAT/i was the most common model. Therefore it is the base, and the 'other' models are the variants. The Star Wars Cross sections book also states that the LAAT/i is the base model, and yes, shows that the doors open and closed. *shrugs* It's not that big a deal Yilbber, your own reference says you're wrong. More or less MDC is to taste.

also, since the thing is just a flying bus. The space models Were enviromentally sealed, and had different armaments. the SPACE model and the GUNSHIP Model are 60 ton class vessels. the standard one that was the troop transport should have no more then 200 to 400 mdc, as similar for other light shuttles from all the game lines from robotech, Macross, and Manhunter. (and IMO, Star wars is not an inheritantly mdc universe, Majority of weapons are SDC, except lightsabers and grenades and vehicle blasters.)

They're alot more than flying buses. They have a pretty heavy armament and load out. If you watch the movies you see them come into the arena and start laying down serious covering fire when they lift off the remaining jedi, and they have rocket launchers and all sorts of things.
You're trying to down play it Yibber to try and some how recapture your point. You're wrong man. Let it go. Move on. If you don't like the write up that was posted, do one your self for your 'bucket with wings' or what ever.

well for one, I wouldn't pick the biggest one of all and say all the others are from it.

infact, using my rough Volume metric math: The standard Atmospheric LAAT is a mere 18 and fractional tons! (took 1/3rd total Width, since it has wings, which are not doing anything but provide lift and missile space, and are light in nature anyway) turned it into feet, divided by 125 to get = AU modules.
it doesn't have enough volume to merit the 60 tons. The Warp capable model is indeed a 60 ton or so vessel, because it has 40 ton CARGO capacity. The normal LAAT? 3000lbs. the Transport Model is likely 30 tons, empty, because it note: The Warp Capable model Looks More neither like the Gunship model and has more in comparison with the carrier model in outward appearance. its' also a heavy atmospheric assault transport.
Yet another Thing: Do YOU really expect a LAAT to survive being hit by a Proton Torpedo? that is what 800 MDC main body means.

Yibber, I already pointed out, your own links called it standard. You're clearly and purposefully ignoring what your own linked sources say.
So what's the point of the debate, if you just ignore things pointed out via your own source?
At this point you're just arguing to argue.

Well if you run games in which large transport can be one shot killed in an RPG count me out of playing in that game. RPG stats are rarely (ie almost NEVER) indicative of what you see on screen now should they be for playability purposes. Otherwise every game would have teh character dying anytime they get shot by and large. THAT is not fun whatsoever.

the problem is Proton Torpedo = Heavy Missile. Most shuttles in those games = Die when Hit by one. They survive short range Missiles plenty.. usually. The text Even Describes the thing as Lightly armored, yatta yatta. You left out the Pin point shield on the heavy model. Unless Your Games Generally filled with people lobbing 1d6x1000 missiles at each other, there is a break in versimilitude here.

Shall we point out how Storm troopers can't shoot anything worth a damn? Or maybe how they all take one hit, and collapse, even though their armor is supposedly so badass, and their guns have an aiming system that allows them to accurately shoot around corners?
Face it Yilbber, you've invalidated your own arguments, and at this point, it's beyond trying to reclaim your point, and is simply coming across as whining. "Buut MOOOOO-OOOOM!" gets really old, really fast.

Funny, I know in d20 they could take a hit from a Proton torpedo depending on damage rolled. As could many shuttles in d20 as well as d6. You find me players that actually like being able to get one shot killed in a game where the pint is fun then I'll start agreeing with you. Otherwise no game that I have enjoyed has ever actually portrayed things as they appear in the source series/movie. Just look at Robotech as another example. You want reality to the source series/movie then have at it but this is not he movie or source series.

yes, but in those games, a low damage roll = glancing blow. i'm referring to full Direct hit. the Space model has force field as well. as for my Versions, I'll post them Soon, Just wanted to get my math done right, budgets drawn, Etc etc.

Not to mention, it's VERY difficult to set up all of the options and tactics and tricks, etc, that are displayed in movies and books, or all the itty bitty variables. You want an example? Look at how long it could take to resolve hits in battletech. Roll for location. Roll for damage. Roll for specialty effects, like damage to the engine shielding. Oh, now we get to see what affect that had on the engine itself. Which might explode. 10 minutes later, "he returns fire"...

Josh, I'm not sure what version of battetech you played but that sure as hell ain't any battletech I've played....ever.
Roll to hit Roll location if successful Apply damage
Only if you manage to destroy the armour do you roll for a possible critical hit and even then it's just a matter of damaging a weapon system the engine etc. It just "happens" no well what does this do or that do...
In fact the rules have changed very little in 25 years. Mostly tweaks here and there from Fasa to FanPro to Catalyst.
Now if you are talking the Mechwarrior RPG....well I never did like Fasa's rpg systems that much....

Was going to reply earlier, but got distracted.
I was playing a mesh between the RPG and the minis game. I can't remember which rules were from which (that was a long time ago, pre 1st deployment. A lot has screwed my head since then)
Maybe it was just us making that many good shots. Seemed like we were doing it constantly. Or maybe I only remember that part clearly. Who knows. I DO remember that combat always seemed to take forever

well the tactical side was never designed to be fast per se so that is possible
