From the facebook group run By Mike
How many of you guys prefer the Facebook format of a page here? Or would you prefer some sort of standard version of a forum to post and talk about RTT?
I'm not a fan of FB personally BUT it is nice to get notices on the cell when people post on something that I have posted.

Jaymz LaFlamme I am fine with it. It reaches the most people in my opinion.

Michael Arnold I wish I could do things like a player locator map on FB....and hunting down past information/links can be a bit of a pain sometimes.

Anthony Kopah Facebook works for news or updates as it is more convenient to check, but I prefer forums for information gathering and topic discussions. Facebook's format isn't really very good at either of those.

Anthony Kopah ...if you do go the forum route, make sure that you add Tapatalk though (it will provide you with the mobile notifications that you like facebook for).

Anthony Kopah Jaymz LaFlamme It's a mobile extension for forum software. Makes it easier to check up on threads you are involved in on your phone.

Damon Agretto I agree in that FB is great for updates and the like, though the threading for discussions could be better. IMHO if a forum is started for discussion purposes, I would want to see threading rather than a forum where the latest post just goes on the list. IMHO if switching to a forum, I'd like to see something that is (IMHO) a superior experience to what FB offers.

Anthony Kopah You can run both for their respective strengths. A forum can even push news updates to Facebook (have a news category that only admins can start threads in) so that you attract traffic from our users here.
Forums are much much better for in depth conversations and are easier to search later on (i.e. when you need paint advice or a rules clarification that may have been discussed already).

Rache Bartmoss Forums die on the vine these days. Facebook with external links to resources seems to work best. Man I hate facebook though.

Anthony Kopah I don't know... I'm on several wargaming and automotive forums that seem to be alive and well. If you don't make a forum for this game, I guarantee someone else will and I personally would prefer it to be a forum connected to here.

Alex Clarke I think hes refering to the benefits of everything being cordinated and uniform. That and Mike is good at managing his group, something i wouldnt say about just anyone who can click some buttons and form a community outlet.

Peter T. Pidrak There is the Robotech game Center form that was started for this. The problem is it never got that many people. In fact I was just going to start posting about people going back there in order to make some of the long-term discussion and long-term project threads easier to find. And also to access the player locator.
